"Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again." Ecclesiastes 11:1
Many different types of bread can be made. But I have not seen many that would
survive floating on water for any length of time! To me, the writer is describing a
hopeless situation. Even if by some means the bread did continue to float, the
chances of us finding it again are fairly remote.

Ecclesiastes 11:1 contains a request to act and a promise of a result. The only
thing in question is the timing of the results. This is not for us to worry about. If
we spent less time worrying about what does not involve us and more time doing
what we are asked to do, we may see more impossible things happen. Consider
this verse with Galatians 6:9, where we are encouraged to keep on doing our work
without losing heart, even when we think God is not working quickly enough to
give us the results we want.
Are you casting your bread on the waters? Look forward with anticipation to the results that will come! Just do not put time limits on God!
Prayer Points
Young boy found abandoned by his mother. He does not know his father.
Lackson has brought another
young boy into the care of Eagles
Wings after he was abandoned by
his mother. The boy is only three
years old and is therefore not a
usual case for Eagles Wings. His
mother left him by a bridge close
to Eagles Wings and never came
back. A community member tried to
care for him for a period of time but
due to their situation could do so no
longer. The boy does not know his
father either.
Please Pray
- For this young boy
and his situation.
- For wisdom and direction for
those at Eagles Wings as they try to
organise the best possible outcome
for this boy.
Praise God
- That He has watched
over this boy’s life even during such
terrible events. Praise Him that He
cares so much more than we ever
can.
FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES
Street Children Documentary
Ubuntu: The Street Child Story is
coming closer to completion. A launch
date has been set in Brisbane for Friday
the 29th of February at Victoria Point
Cineplex. Matthew is working hard at
editing to meet the deadline. One week
later, the documentary will be launched
in Sydney.
Please Pray
- For Matthew and Reid
as they organize and produce the
documentary. Pray that it will make
a positive impact upon the lives of
Southern African street children.
Praise God
- That the Brisbane launch
was 90% sold out in just a few days.
Daniel in Australia
Daniel Zulu, our Education Program
Coordinator and Principal, has only
five weeks left before his journey to
Australia, where he will be working in
various Christian Schools for training
purposes. He still has many issues
and areas to work through before he
leaves (see New Praise and Prayer
Points), plus his own preparation for
the journey.
Please Pray
- That God will strengthen
Daniel as he prepares and that he can
leave a well organized and prepared
teaching staff at Eagles Wings.
- For Daniel’s heart and mind to be
prepared and open for all that he will see
and experience in Australian schools.
Praise God
- For this wonderful
opportunity and how He works in ways
we never imagined possible.
Clayton & Anna Hinds
After four weeks back home in Australia
for Christmas and New Years, Clayton
and Anna have returned earlier than
expected to Zambia, via Livingstone, in
order to view possible land for Eagles
Wings Camp Program which Clayton is
coordinating.
Please Pray
- That they will settle back
into Eagles Wings, Zambian culture and
their particular roles well.
Praise God
- For their open, available
hearts to serve Him and the children!
NEW PRAISE AND PRAYER POINTS
School Opening
A new year and new challenges
ahead! With the Eagles Wings
Christian Community schools
(Kanyala & Monkey Fountain) opening
this month, as well as government
schools opening and Adult Education
commencing, there has been the
standard chaos of January. Having
power, internet and phone lines down
for the past few weeks have not helped
in the process.
Please Pray
- That Daniel, Sarah and
their teaching staff can manage the
work load and have all the necessary
planning in place for the year ahead.
- For the children, as they begin a
new year of learning. Pray that they
will understand and make progress
academically, socially and spiritually.
- Thanks to web designer Dave
Gray, we have a new website
www.ewafrica.org
Email addresses will follow a
similar format, for example,

This is to
coincide with our move beyond
Zambia, into other Southern
African countries.
- Eagles Wings has been
trademarked! Thanks to a
volunteer of Eagles Wings in
Australia for his work on this.
- The Holiday Inn Lusaka (capital
of Zambia) has agreed to hold
a launch of Ubuntu: The Street
Child Story for FREE! We really
appreciate this assistance in
getting word out amongst the
leaders of Lusaka district in
Zambia on street children. We
will keep you posted regarding
this event.
Proposals
January and February are the months
in which our proposals are written
and submitted to Baptist World Aid
Australia to continue our partnership.
They are an integral part in setting our
objectives for the following 12 months
and keep us on track with our overall
vision of helping disadvantaged
children and their communities.
Much work goes into preparation and
involves community input.
Please Pray
- For our Management
Team, as they commence this task.
Pray for wisdom, direction and unity
as they work through the process.
Praise God
- For this partnership
with Baptist World Aid Australia and
the way in which they have helped
Eagles Wings develop over the past
few years.
Updates for 2008

Important Note
New Approach to Information Sharing
Eagles Wings will no longer be placing names and sensitive personal information
regarding our children in our annual Information Book, website, Updates and
Praise and Prayer. This is a decision made by EW Management Team. Even
though permission was granted by the child and parent/guardian to use their
information, the child does not understand the full implications of such a decision.
Therefore, EW will make an effort to get information across to the recipient in an
informed way that does not link any particular child with sensitive information.
General information will not be hindered in any way. Specific one off cases may
still apply at the discretion of EW, if deemed completely necessary. We believe
that many would agree that this is necessary and beneficial for the care and
protection of each child.
Please pray
- As we start this new approach that we may continue to be able
to convey information in an informative way to our partners.
