"Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known." 1Corinthians 13:12

Our journey on earth is a walk of faith: Faith that rests in the knowledge that the future is in God’s hands, faith that His love for us will never end, faith that He will continue to guide our steps and faith that no matter what happens, God is in control.

However, many times we can still be driven to ask ‘Why?’ Our confidence is shaken and our faith tested to the limit. Sometimes the burdens we bear are a sore trial. In 1 Corinthians 13:12, Paul typified this journey as one where we do not see clearly, as though looking in a dim mirror that is obscure and we only have partial knowledge. These are the times our faith is challenged. Yet we must long to know more and understand better the heart of God and be assured of his love. P

raise God, a time is coming when we will see ‘face to face’ with nothing in between. Then we will know much about God’s heart. We will finally see all that He has done as through His eyes. Then all that happens will make sense. The full extent of His love for us will be clear. The total plan of man’s redemption will be spread out before our eyes. Then we will respond in absolute praise and worship for all He has done and the extent of His goodness to us.

Independence Day Celebrations – October 24th marked 43 years of independence in Zambia. Sadly, six young girls in our Education Program celebrated the occasion by consuming alcohol. Problems caused by alcohol are common in the shanty compounds Eagles Wings works within and many drink to numb the pain of hunger and suffering. The result is that often children drink with no adult intervention.
Please Pray
- For the girls in our Education Program and for Augustine, our Social Worker, as he counsels them.
- For families in our communities. Pray that families will be active in preventing their children from drinking and that whole families would turn to God for relief instead.

FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES

Jack Kapipe

Jack’s behaviour is still very unpredictable. He erratically changes from a happy, peaceful child to an angry boy wanting to hurt people. Through our Family Program (formerly Full Care Program) we visited Jack’s aunty and grandmother to see if there was any possibility for reintegration. However, his aunty was unwilling to care for him and his grandmother is an alcoholic who would take any responsibility for Jack.
Please Pray
- For Jack. Pray that God would heal him and free him from the negative experiences of his past that are influencing his behaviour. Pray that Jack’s heart would be turned to God for change.
- For staff and volunteers at Eagles Wings as they work with Jack. Pray for love, patience and wisdom as they face each unpredictable day with him and make decisions about how to respond.

Eagles Wings Trust

Eagles Wings is now a registered trust within Zambia. This means we are able to purchase and own land under the name of Eagles Wings. Currently Zambian law does not allow registered societies to own or purchase land.
Praise God
- That the trust is established and that our lawyer charged a minimal amount.

NEW PRAISE AND PRAYER POINTS

SAFARI Code of Behaviour

A new code of behaviour has been created at our school. An acronym representing Safety, Acceptance, Fairness, Accountability, Respect and Improvement has been created and our teachers are now using Bible stories and everyday Zambian scenarios to teach the children why each of these values is important. Change is very evident in the children and the code of behaviour is assisting teachers in monitoring behaviour.
Praise God
- For the creation of our SAFARI Code of Behaviour.
Please Pray
- For our teachers. Pray that they will be able to strongly and clearly communicate the significance of each point to the children.
- For the children. Pray for God’s Spirit to be working in their hearts, drawing them to Himself and changing their behaviour. Pray that they will understand and apply what they are learning.

Children In SchoolAttendance at School

The teachers at Eagles Wings are happy that class attendance is improving greatly. The children’s willingness to learn is remarkable.
Praise God
- For the improvement in attendance at school.
Please Pray
- That attendance at school would continue to be consistent.

Albert Ndope

Albert was brought into the Centre a few months ago after running away from his father. It has been difficult to determine the specific causes that lead him to the streets and both his father and aunty have been eager to have him return. He has recently been reintegrated back into his family, but is still not settled. His father’s health is also poor which may be contributing to difficulties at home.
Please Pray
- For Albert as he settles back into his home and family.
- For Albert’s family. Pray for the health of his father. Pray that peace and love would exist at home and that home would be a place Albert would feel safe and valued.

Praise Focus

Adult Education Program (AEP) Restaurant Burton and a team of workers, both from Zambia and Australia, have been busy building a small restaurant in Overspill compound, backing onto Eagles Wings. This shop will be used to train parents and guardians of children in our programs who are participating in the AEP. After one year of literacy, numeracy, health and small business training, they begin training and working on their own income generating project. Sarah and Emmy, AEP Staff at restaurantThe restaurant is one of these projects. We are now just waiting for relevant documentation that will allow us to commercialise the restaurant, as it is in a residential area. Praise God – That the restaurant has been completed and the AEP participants are ready to start. Please Pray – For the documentation to be processed and approved efficiently. - For all the women who are participating in the AEP. Pray that their hearts would change and become enthusiastic about developing themselves and their families.
