"But even if we or an angel from heaven should Prayer Focus preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!" Galatians 1:8 We humans love to follow the fashions that sweep the country on a regular basis and feel somewhat out of favour when we fall behind. Some of us humans get bored with the same old thing and we regularly change our environment just to feel happy. However, there are some things that are the same from generation to generation and are not changeable until God decides.
God’s love is unchangeable: He loves us the same today as He did 2000 years ago. His offer of a relationship is the same today as it was 2000 years ago. His promise of eternal life with Him is as true today as it was 2000 years ago. The life of one who follows Him is a path that can be a path of suffering and poverty, the same as it was 2000 years ago. The cost of following Christ can be as costly today as it was 2000 years ago. We cannot pick just the great blessing of the message of the Gospel and leave out the costs that will continue until God decides it is time to bring abou the final chapter of the Gospel message. Men have tried to change the message from the start, as seen in Galatians. It is good to refresh ourselves to the truth of the message from God’s Word and not be put off by the inventions of men that have some self interest in a new gospel. FROM PREVIOUS UPDATESStreet Children Documentary
Matthew has arrived in Zambia and with Clayton and Reid has begun discussing the theme and style of the documentary. They hope to revisit all those countries where research was conducted. It has become clear however that filming in some of these countries may be a challenge! Lesotho is currently under curfew from 6am - 6pm due to instability from recent elections, Zimbabwe are conscious of negative media attention and a letter of invite is needed to film within the Congo. Prayer FocusOur Camp Program is on again from the 9th to the 16th of July. At Eagles Wings we are busy finalizing the list of children before training for all camp leaders on the 6th and 7th of July. This year our nine day camp will include visits to both the Zambia and Zimbabwe sides of Victoria Falls, the Crocodile Park, Museum, a Zambezi River Cruise and, for blessed competition winners, an elephant ride, bunji jump, gorge swing and helicopter flight. The most important part of camp is devotions where the Gospel is presented to the children.
Please Pray NEW PRAISE AND PRAYER POINTSGrade 4 Class
A new grade four class has just begun in the new school building that the Australian Building Team were working on. Children from grades two and three who are much older and children whose academic ability is higher have joined for this class. The goal is to have these children ready to begin grade five next year, completing grades three and four in the one year. Adult Education Program
The first intake of students have almost completed their year of literacy and numeracy. Assessment is currently occurring to determine their literacy and numeracy levels. For those that pass the assessment, the opportunity exists to move into developing small businesses. One of these exciting business opportunities is a small restaurant near Eagles Wings and another in Chipulukusu (now called Mapalo) that will sell a variety of western and traditional meals and drinks. 20 adults will have an opportunity to learn bookkeeping and management skills while earning an income at the same time. Participants receive half the profits throughout their training and Eagles Wings keeps the remaining half until graduation. After eight months of training the money that they have earned for themselves will be used as start up capital for their own small business. Baptist World Aid Australia will contribute $20,000 towards this development based program. We greatly appreciate this and many other aspects that BWAA bring to develop the work of Eagles Wings. Short-termers
We have a number of short-termers joining us over the next month. Matthew and his sister Katrina arrived on the 21st of June. Katrina will be working in the school, spending time with each teacher providing feedback and examples of new teaching methods. Katrina will then join us on camp as a leader. On the 28th of June Sue Kitzelman will be joining us for three months. Sue is the Head of Primary at a Christian College in Queensland and will be working alongside Daniel with leadership training and our teachers with curriculum training. We also have ITeams’ camp leaders joining us from the 6th of July. Internet at Eagles Wings
Once again we are having difficulties with our onsite internet connection. As research into other countries and the number of short-term visitors increases, communication via email is becoming more important. Praise Focus - Daniel is coming to AustraliaOur enthusiastic young head teacher, Daniel Zulu, is heading to Australia in March and April 2008! Daniel will be spending time in various schools with principals and teachers who have visited Eagles Wings or have been involved in planning for the school. The purpose of this trip is for Daniel to experience varying education methods and to gain knowledge about how to effectively lead a Christian school. Please join us as we praise God for opening this door for Daniel and Eagles Wings. |
