"After Rehoboam’s position as king was established and he had become strong, he and all Israel with him abandoned the law of the LORD." 2 Chronicles 12:1

Rehoboam worked hard to establish the Kingdom of Judah, making it strong and safe by listening to the voice of God through the prophet Shemaiah during early years of struggle. It is one thing to walk with God through the valleys of struggle and suffering but there is nothing more difficult than staying close to God on the mountains of plenty. Rehoboam choose not to follow God in the good times.

Christians in countries of plenty can easily lose their love for God and commitment to His teaching, becoming indistinquishable from the world in their walk. Suffering is foreign to Christians in these circumstances but is so helpful for us to maintain a close walk with God and develop a mature and Christ like nature.

It is clear that suffering countries produce strong Christians that are keen to obey God and are willing to put Him first in their lives. It has been said that so often the prayer of the suffering church is not to be taken out of the suffering, but for God to support them whilst in their suffering.

Can we be brave enough to face a little suffering for ourselves in this land of plenty and be mindful of the many of our brothers and sisters who live in constant suffering in lands of poverty?

FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES

Full Care Children - Those Full Care children who attend Government Schools have recently returned to school to begin Term 2. The children who attend school at Eagles Wings are still on holidays. Many of them return to their existing families during this time. This is an important step in the reintegration process, allowing children and families to rebuild relationships that were once in ruins due to abuse and/or neglect. In many cases though, the communities the children were part of are full of negative influences from traditional beliefs.
Please Pray
- For those children who have returned to school. Pray that they will be motivated and keen to continue study.
- For the children during their holiday. Pray that those who have returned to existing family will be protected from the many negative influences around them.

Building Team - The Building Team from Australia have all returned safely home after four weeks in Zambia. Each team member sacrificed much to be part of the team and had to deal with different cultures, different food, basic accomodation (tents) and even Malaria, with four members of the team falling sick. They were able to complete a lot of work on the school, roofing, fencing, plumbing, wiring, painting, concreting, blocklaying and landscaping. Some of the team also spent time working with the teachers and students in school. We hope this experience leaves them with many fond memories of hard work, precious children and beautiful Zambia.
Praise God
- For the work the team was able to complete.
- That the team all returned home safely.
Please Pray
- For the team as they settle back into Australia and reflect upon their experiences, the children and the poverty that they encountered.

Research into Southern Africa - Our initial research into expanding Eagles Wings into new Southern African Countries has been completed. Four countries and thousands of kilometeres later, Lackson, Reid and Clayton, who joined the team for the Zimbabwe research, are happy to be home. With the great need of helping street children confirmed, it was extremely encouraging to see the willingness of the National Church to take on this challenge and partner in this area. We are hoping to partner with the church both National and Global to see many children changed for eternity. We hope that this small start will see great partnerships formed that will make a difference in the lives of street children.
Praise God
- For safety while traveling in many unstable countries.
- For the nationals and missionaries already working in these countries who welcomed Lackson, Reid and Clayton and helped the gather information.
Please Pray
- For wisdom in determing how Eagles Wings can help in which countries.

Prayer Focus

As the research into Southern African countries has now been completed, the next step is to film a challenging and thought provoking documentary on street children. Matthew Nelson from Australia will be traveling to Zambia in late July and will spend two months in Southern Africa filming. We praise God for the opportunity to undertake such a challenge for the cause of street children. The documentary team are aware of the many challenges that this project will present and would really value prayer. Please pray for them as they prepare the filming schedule over the coming weeks. Pray for strength and courage, spiritually and physically, to make a documentary that is challenging and thoughtprovoking. Pray for wisdom to know how far to push and to be on guard against the Devil who will undoubtedly try to undermine and hinder the filming.

During the busy period with the Building Team and researching other countries, some of the day-to-day issues that needed to be discussed at length by Management had been put on hold. Management were blessed to have the opportunity to head to Nsobe, 50 kilometers from Ndola, for two days of meetings. It was a refreshing and valuable time to discuss and reflect on ways to move forward. There was even time for a little bit of fishing! Our Management Team are so important in overseeing the various projects and departments of Eagles Wings and we praise God for this opportunity.
