?He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow
of the Almighty? He will cover you with his feathers, and under his
wings you will find refuge? Psalm 91:1 & 3Our children are growing up! As all parents are only too well aware, children grow up very fast! This is the case with the children at the Eagles Wings farm also. Two of our boys in particular, are now young men and are preparing to leave home and start lives of their own. Peter, now 19 and George, now 18 both came to Eagles Wings in 2000 and although having come from situations you and I could never dream of (both boys were living on the streets ? Peter, after having been abandoned by his parents following their divorce and George, after he was orphaned at the age of 8), during their time at the farm where they have received unconditional love and been given opportunities for education and a healthy life, both boys have matured into engaging young men with individual personalities and dreams. We praise our Lord that whilst at the farm, both Peter and George have come to know the Lord Jesus as their own personal Saviour and Lord. George has actually finished his formal schooling now and at the beginning of this year started a bricklaying course at Mobile Mission Maintenance (MMM) Vocational Training Centre ? something he is absolutely loving. He and his fellow students are currently working very diligently on the toilet block for the new Eagles Wings primary school as part of their training, George even working back on the site after class, carrying blocks and earning some money. Peter, meanwhile, is a little less certain about his future. One of his hopes is that next year he will be able to join the MMM carpentry course which is run every 2 years, however on the other hand, he also dreams of being a truck driver! As we all know, not all young adults know exactly which vocation they want to pursue when they finish school. So how is Eagles Wings going to support and encourage these young adults as they step out on their own? Further training courses undertaken by the children in our Full Care Program are sponsored by Eagles Wings so that they have the opportunity to learn a trade or other skills required for gaining employment, enabling them to stand on their own 2 feet and give back to their own communities. In addition, it is planned that Eagles Wings will lease a plot in the neighbouring village to these young men in order that, with assistance, they can build their own home, the cost of which they would then pay back through assisting back at the farm. With ongoing support and monitoring, our young men would have their own home and in the process, learn how to handle money wisely as well as to work hard in order to provide for themselves. Obviously as the other children grow, we will assess their individual needs and dreams in order to determine appropriate support for each child.
