“We will not return to our homes until every one of the sons of Israel has possessed
We must also remind ourselves that there is no rest for us this side of Heaven, until all of God’s people have reached that ‘Promised Land’. In lands of plenty it is easy to think we have arrived and can now rest and put our feet up. But no! We must join the battle that is raging in many countries where God’s people are still experiencing extreme suffering; where children are discarded through no fault of their own and left to the abuses of an evil world; where God’s kingdom is still not complete. Remember God Himself will not rest until all His people are home with Him and His Kingdom has received its last lost soul. Let’s not give up the fight too soon. Work is still to be done.
PRAYER FOCUS For a long time we have hoped to be able to reintegrate our Full Care children with their existing families and communities. Over the past five years we have seen many of these children, whose parents/guardians once sent them into the streets to beg for money, being able to return home during school holidays. With these visits increasing, the children’s place in their family and the community has been re-established to the point where this month Cecilia, Agnus, Sara, Grac and Thelma have all returned to their families. While the ideal place for each of the children we care for is with their family in their own community, we are also mindful of the many risks that face these girls in Chipulukusu, the community to which they have returned. Traditional practices with little respect for childhood, education and the girl-child threaten their potential to stand firm for the truth they have learnt, break free from the poverty cycle and make a difference in their generation. Please join us in prayer for Cecilia, Agnus, Sara, Grace and Thelma and others that will follow them in the coming weeks.

Reid & Chantelle and Brad & Casey will then travel to Dar Es Salaam and drive the bus through Tanzania and Zambia, for delivery to Eagles Wings. Praise God – For the funds to purchase the bus. - That all the plans for the purchase and shipping of the bus are coming together. Please Pray – For Brad and Reid as they choose a bus. - For straightforward and successful clearance at the borders. - For safety in travel.
PRAISE FOCUS As a new year begins, we encourage you to remember Ephesians 3:20-21 and rejoice! With the expansion of our community school, reintegration of children into their families, growth of our Adult Education Program and Camp in July, we are mindful that the Lord is able to do more in our programs, in these communities and in these children’s lives than we could ever imagine! Praise Him for the growth, guidance and blessings that 2007 will bring, both in Eagles Wings and in each individual child’s life.
NEW PRAISE & PRAYER POINTS New School Term at Eagles Wings – School began again on the 29th January. 30 new students have joined us to fill the grades one, two and three classes. In the week before Term 1 began there was much activity with the teachers participating in English and Phonics training, Burton making new desks and Francis, our tailor, sewing uniforms. Praise God – For the strength He gave the staff as they prepared for Term 1 to commence. Please Pray – For the students. Pray that they would have clear minds and hearts to understand all the academic, spiritual and moral lessons they hear. Pray that real progress would be made in their education in 2007. - For the teachers. Pray for courage and strength as they apply many new teaching methods. Pray for wisdom in planning and teaching meaningful lessons to the students. New Head Teacher – Our fantastic teacher from Kanyala, Daniel Zulu, has accepted the position of Head Teacher. In addition to teaching English and Maths to the grade one class, Daniel will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the teaching staff and working with government departments. Praise God – For the way He has equipped and gifted Daniel. Please Pray – For Daniel, as he leads the school. Pray for wisdom and the Holy Spirit’s leading. - For unity between Daniel and the teachers, David, Sylvia, Augustine, Maureen and Chilufya (our new teacher). Clayton and Anna Hinds – Clayton and Anna arrive in Zambia on the 3rd of February. Clayton will be taking the position of Administrator and Anna, a nurse, will be attending to the many health needs of the children in our programs and educating parents through the Adult Education Program. They have committed to serving the Lord at Eagles Wings for two years. Praise God – For His guidance, strength and equipping in Clayton and Anna’s lives. Please Pray – For approval of Clayton and Anna’s work permits, which are still being processed after the Department of Immigration were sending information to the wrong town in Zambia. - For Clayton and Anna as they farewell family and friends in Australia. - For safety as they travel. - That God would help them settle into Zambian life and give them understanding about Zambian culture. - That God would prepare their hearts for their ministry at Eagles Wings. Kelvin Lufwantika – Arriving at the Centre, visitors are frequently impressed by the intelligence and English of 15 year old Kelvin. While Kelvin once spent his days wandering the streets of Ndola, begging for money and fighting to protect his two younger sisters, he more recently spent his days attending extra lessons at school or studying on his own at the Centre. Kelvin has been blessed to receive a position to attend High School at a boarding school 30 minutes out of Ndola. While he was sad to leave his Eagles Wings family, the smile across his face showed his excitement at the potential of this experience. Praise God – For the way He fearfully and wonderfully made Kelvin and gave him such motivation to learn. Please Pray – For Kelvin as he settles into Boarding School. Pray that he will feel at home and settled very soon. - For Kelvin’s studies. Pray that he will continue to work hard and learn well. |
