EW Update #5 Print E-mail
"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Matthew 25:40

Hi Everyone!

Well we've got quite a bit of updating to do!!

Firstly thanks to all those who made the fundraising concert at Cleveland Baptist Brisbane on 1 March and the fundraising Sydney concert at Maroubra Baptist on 22 March such successful nights by coming along and contributing to two great nights.  A lot of money was raised and everyone had a lot of fun as well. Reid left for Zambia 16 March and is awaiting the arrival of the building team of 20 Australians, preparing things for them to start work on the 2 orphanage buildings.  Reid will be in Zambia for about 6 weeks before travelling to Thailand to observe a particular orphanage centre with similar structures to those we are planning ie foster family units.  The idea is for the street children to be channelled through the orphanage into foster family units within the community which will give them the family structure and support so necessary to a child's development.

Mark will be taking the proceeds from the Sydney concert with him to Zambia when he travels this next Thursday morning, 27 March.  Mark will be there a couple of weeks to encourage Lackson and the other team workers and help set up structures in line with the new constitution which is currently being registered with the Zambian government.

Lackson and his family are now living on the farm where they are better able to manage the project.  Here is part of his latest email:

"Greetings from Zambia.  We hope and trust the Lord that you are fine.  Back here in Zambia we are doing fine, the Lord is seeing us through.  Thank you for the heart that you have for us and the kids in Zambia.  Thank you for the money that you sent.  We have finished paying the school fees for the (65) kids both at primary and secondary.  We have almost finished buying school things also for the children or kids and we are buying shoes from Bata.
Thank you so much for everything, everyone are saying hi to you.
May God bless you, Lackson"

It's great to know that the money is getting to where it is needed ? these disadvantaged Zambian children who, but for your help, would not have the opportunity to go to school and would miss out on experiencing the love of Christ our Saviour through the love shown to them by the Eagles Wings workers.

Back here in Australia, we had a productive meeting recently with Paul Weekley of Baptist World Aid Australia ("BWAA") and following the consent of our Zambian co-workers, it is our proposal that we allow BWAA to manage our donation program.  This will help us overcome many obstacles we have encountered thus far in opening accounts, gaining tax deductibility, etc.  When the agreement is official, all donations to Eagles Wings will be tax deductible.  We thank Paul for his help in this.

Eagles Wings ministry itself will continue to be directed and managed by the Eagles Wings Zambian team with our support and encouragement and the Eagles Wings Australian team members will continue to be in charge of fundraising.  We'll give you more details when Mark and Reid return from Zambia.

Thanks again for your ongoing support, prayers and encouragement of this exciting ministry to such an area of need in our world.  So little can do so much in Zambia.  Thanks for being a part of Eagles Wings.

We continue to covet your prayers especially for:
  • the children to whom we are ministering ? those now in school and those street children for whom the orphanage is being built.  May they experience Christ's love and respond by submitting their lives to Him.
  • the Eagles Wings Zambian team as they adjust to the new structures required under the new constitution ? may they know God's help and strength during this time of change.
  • Mark, Reid and the building team's trip to Zambia ? that it be fruitful, and beneficial to the progress of the Eagles Wings ministry.
  • those in the building team who have not travelled to a developing country before ? that they be sensitive to this different culture and that they all be blessed by the experience ? Australians and Zambians alike.
  • the Eagles Wings music team in Sydney as they continue to travel to various churches (both near and far) raising awareness and funds.
  • the Eagles Wings Australian team as we continue to seek God's guidance in all that we do.
