Hi Everyone! This is just to let you all know that donations are now tax deductible and to give you a brief update of what?s happening in Zambia. Prayer is most important!! Eagles Wings covets your committed prayer support ? for the children and workers and for God?s continued guidance for the future. If, following prayer, God is directing you to also give financially, our new Donations page will assist. This is a result of our new partnership with Baptist World Aid Australia. Partnership with Baptist World Aid Australia In summary, Baptist World Aid Australia now manage our donations program but still give us the freedom to manage the Eagles Wings project in Zambia. This partnership means that all donations over $2 to Eagles Wings are now tax deductible in Australia and donations can be made on-line. In addition, we are looking to establish a direct debit system for those wishing to donate regularly. We praise God for guiding us in this area and bringing about this partnership. If you have any questions regarding donations, please feel free to ask Mark, Reid or Karen or use our contact page. Update from the Field Following the completion of the 2 accommodation units by the building team in April this year, there are now 9 boys living on the farm with Lackson and his family. Instead of begging or stealing on the streets, these boys now help with the day-to-day running of the farm (learning vital life skills in the process), attend government school with the other 76 children in the project, as well as most importantly, being nurtured in a loving Christian environment. Of the 76 other children in the project, 10 are also street children, but these 10 are fortunate to still have functioning families, however the families are so poor that the children are forced to beg on the streets in order that the family may have food to eat. Eagles Wings is helping these families, enabling the children (mostly girls) to remain with their families whilst also getting them off the streets. The children attend a government school and the families are given adequate funds for food. New Project We have now also branched out to establish a similar, albeit smaller project, for orphans in Solwezi (350km from Ndola). The Solwezi project is being run by Annette Kampewi and has 5 orphans living with Annette and her family and attending a local government school. Annette shares the Eagles Wings? love for these children and the passion to show them God?s love and to provide them with opportunities for a bright future. Future Plans In the short to medium term, plans are for 2 additional accommodation units to be constructed on the farm for fulltime workers as well as the purchase of additional land for farming purposes. The desire is that not only will the crops grown on the farm provide adequate food for those living there, but also provide an income and an avenue for helping other needy families within the community. For the children, our dream is to sponsor annual field trips for a small number so that they may see and learn about other parts of their own country. |
