EW Update #9 Print E-mail
The Dream for Field Trips is becoming a Reality

You may remember in our update in June 2003 we shared a dream to sponsor annual field trips for a small number of the street children so that they may see and learn about other parts of their own country.  These trips would be educational as well as a fun time for the children ? a time when they can experience something we often take for granted back here in Australia ? a simple family holiday.  Because of their circumstances, the majority of the children we care for have never been out of their own village or town, let alone on a holiday!  It would also be another opportunity through which the children can experience the love of Christ, knowing that each one of them is special in God?s eyes and ours! Cleveland Baptist Church in Brisbane (Reid?s home church) has committed to sponsoring the first of these annual field trips for the children.  Reid is heading over to Zambia next month to further help with implementing this dream (among other things) and it is planned that next July up to 40 street children will travel to Victoria Falls in the south of Zambia for a week.  We are in the process of enlisting enthusiastic and willing adult leaders (20 Zambians and 7-8 foreigners) to be involved in and help supervise the excursion.  Please let us know if you?re interested!!

Thank you Cleveland Baptist for your commitment to this first field trip!

Eastwood Baptist (Sydney) visits Eagles Wings Zambia ? July 2003

?Going on short-term mission to Zambia was an amazing experience, full of emotions and sights and smells and people and music and food like nothing many of us had seen before. We visited the Eagles Wings Centres for Disadvantaged Children and were amazed at the care given to the street kids.  The accommodation Reid, Mark and their team have built for them is both practical and homely. Lackson is an amazing man. When I was talking with him I really felt the presence of Jesus, and that this is what Jesus would be doing in Zambia, caring for street kids.?

Toongabbie Baptist (Sydney) visits Eagles Wings Zambia ? August 2003

?We took a team of 10 people in August to visit Eagles Wings Childrens Centres for Disadvantaged Children.  We had an amazing experience and were able to build a shower and toilet block with money donated from all parts of Australia.  It was great working with Lackson and the kids.  Several times members of the team were brought to tears by being involved in the lives of these street kids and seeing the difference the Lord is making in their lives through Eagles Wings.  We encourage you to keep participating in this ministry.?

Mark?s New CD ?Zambezi? should be ready next month!

Mark Holstein and Graham Burns have been working very hard over recent months on Mark?s new CD which, it is hoped, will be ready next month.

Mark and Graham head to the US

Following the release of the new CD, Mark and Graham are aiming to tour the US from late February to May 2004 to promote the CD and in doing so, raise money and awareness for Eagles Wings.

Once again, all the proceeds from the sale of the CD will go to the Eagles Wings ministry.

Please pray:
  • for the children ? that they may experience Christ?s love through the care given them at Eagles Wings and respond by making him their own Lord and Saviour
  • thank God for the ongoing love and commitment of those in the Zambian Eagles Wings team
  • for the field trip scheme and the logistics involved to make it a reality
  • for the ongoing progress of Mark?s new CD and that doors will open in accordance with God?s will for singing opportunities in the US
  • for ongoing direction for all involved in this ministry, both in Zambia and back here in Australia
