EW Update #11 Print E-mail
There?s lots happening at the moment at Eagles Wings, so here?s a quick rundown?.

Reid in Zambia

Reid arrived in Ndola late November 2003 and has been working non-stop with Lackson and the team.  The accommodation unit for Adele (see overleaf) is almost complete.  The electricity to the farm has finally been turned on.  Strategies, plans and budgets are being nutted out and the Eagles Wings board is up and functioning.  We thank the board members for their willingness and enthusiasm for their task.  Details for the first field trip in July 2004 are also being finalised. It?s nothing short of amazing how much God is enabling the team to do in such a short space of time and how God is continuing to abundantly bless, protect and guide this ministry.

Thanks very much to Chantelle Franke (Reid?s girlfriend) for stepping up to the challenge of being a communication link whilst Reid remains in Ndola till March 2004.

Also, a big thank you to the Toongabbie Baptist team for their great work in August 2003 in building the much-needed shower and toilet block.

Please join us in God?s amazing work through Eagles Wings by praying.
  • thank God for his constant protection and guidance of Eagles Wings in the past
  • thank God for all that has been accomplished (like the shower and toilet block, Adele?s accommodation, plans, budgets, etc), and for the children he has brought into our care
  • pray for these children that they may experience the love of Christ through our care.  Specifically, please commit to pray for Iliza, a beautiful 11 year old orphaned girl who has come into our care and who is in desperate need of our Lord?s saving grace and power, having been exposed to witchcraft in the past.  Also, please commit to pray for Junior, a 10 year old boy who has been abused, lives on the streets and sniffs glue.
  • The Zambian team are currently trying to place him in family care near the Centre, but obviously Junior has many problems to work through.
  • pray for Lackson, Reid and the team as they continue to give hope to the hopeless.

Adele gets ready to go

Those of you in the Brisbane area already know and love Adele, but for our supporters in New South Wales, please meet Adele Leibinger. Adele is a retired nurse who is following God's clear direction for her to serve him on a voluntary basis with Eagles Wings in Zambia. Preparations are being finalised both in Brisbane and Ndola for Adele's arrival in late January 2004.  This is no light decision on Adele's part and we praise God for her obedience to His calling.

Adele will live in her own self-contained accommodation unit on the farm and will fill the vital role of support for Lackson. Her vocational experience in nursing and counseling as well as strong nurturing skills put her in a great position to be able to reach out to the girls in our care as well as women in the community. Adele will also be a great help in the communication link between Zambia and Australia as well as the arduous ongoing task of book-keeping.

At this point in time, Adele doesn't know how long God wants her to be in Zambia but is anticipating a longer term stay.

Please join us in God?s amazing work through Eagles Wings by praying.
  • praise God for leading Adele to Eagles Wings and her enthusiasm for all that lies ahead
  • praise God that preparations are falling into place both in Australia and Zambia
  • pray for Adele as she settles into a new culture - for her physical and spiritual health and protection and all the little worries like living with some interesting animals in Africa!
Mark & Graham seek direction regarding travelling to the USA

?Zambezi?, Mark?s second CD which was launched in late November 2003 has already proven to be a great success and, as all sale proceeds go to Eagles Wings (this being one of the major ways funds are raised for ongoing costs of running the ministry in Zambia), this is wonderful news.

We continue to seek God?s direction regarding the guys? dream to travel to the USA for 3 months in 2004 to sell the new CD.  Visas are required for this trip and US visa requirements are quite involved.  The issue of the visas has been delayed pending receipt of an invitation from a US organisation for the guys to come and visit the USA.  If you have contacts in the USA who may be interested in inviting Mark and Graham to visit, please contact Mark on 0403 820 531 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

In the meantime, it looks like a good possibility that Mark and Graham will travel to Taiwan in late February to sell the new CD.

Please join us in God?s amazing work through Eagles Wings by praying:
  • praise God for initial success of the ?Zambezi? CD
  • pray for direction regarding the dream to visit the USA to sell CDs
  • pray for planning for the trip to Taiwan.
