Galations 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."What a month we had in July! It was the month of our inaugural field trip and what a wonderful trip it was! Who went? This field trip was sponsored by Cleveland Baptist Church in Brisbane, Australia and enabled 40 disadvantaged children as well as 20 leaders (who paid their own way) to travel down to the south of Zambia for a 10 day trip of a lifetime. Many hours of organising and behind the scenes work was necessary to make this trip a reality and we praise God for amazing protection, provision and abundant blessings before, during and following this trip. The 40 children came from the Eagles Wings farm as well as from the neighbouring shanty-towns. These are children who before coming to the Eagles Wings farm have, through no fault of their own ended up living on the streets of Ndola. Zambia is a country without adequate social welfare and sadly has one of the highest rates of HIV AIDs in the world today. Many children end up on the streets when their parents die and there are no relatives to care for them ? they have no choice. Trying to stay warm, they huddle together, some turning to glue-sniffing to find relief. Others who do have one or both parents still alive, live a life locked in poverty and often abuse with no opportunities of breaking out of the terrible cycle ? how can they when their families can?t even afford an education for them.In the midst of this sadness, Eagles Wings is giving these children hope through education, full care on the farm for a limited number of children as well as emergency aid for those in the community. Through showing God?s love by meeting physical needs as well as sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, Eagles Wings has a high level of acceptance and respect within the community. |
