Praise & Prayer August 08 Print E-mail

"Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” Romans 8:17-18

These verses are clear in what they say, but sometimes hard to understand. The grace of God overflows to us as we will receive all that Christ has received, even though our worst suffering would never compare to the depth of suffering that Christ endured on earth. It is also a comfort to know that our loved ones who have passed on are, right now, enjoying that new glorified life. Be encouraged when life does not always go smoothly that we will, one day, be enjoying all that God has prepared for us. Will we ask ourselves, “Why did I ever complain?” when whatever suffering we experience in this life we were asked to endure?

FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES

Eagles Wings (Australia)

On the 8th of August, Eagles Wings (Australia) had its first official board meeting on the Gold Coast. This is an exciting and necessary step forward for Eagles Wings in Australia to bring clear direction and accountability in a team environment. Directors of Eagles Wings (Australia) are as follows:

Rob Barnes, Karyn Rusin, David Nelson, Joe Jansen, Sue Kitzelman and Reid Anderton.

Praise God

  • For His continued grace over this ministry that is seeing vulnerable children reach their God given potential.

Please Pray

  • For all Directors as they begin to work in this new team. Pray that they will work together with the Zambian Board to meet the challenges and vision ahead.

Head of Primary

Continue to pray for Sheeba Moyo as she begins her new role as Head of Primary at Eagles Wings’ Monkey Fountain Campus. A new teacher, Mr. Jasmina Smart, has been appointed to take over Sheba’s previous role as a class teacher.

Please Pray

  • That both teachers will not be overwhelmed by their new roles, but that they may use their gifts to further the ministry.

Please note a correction from last month’s Praise and Prayer: Two names were used for the new position of Head of Primary at Monkey Fountain Campus. Sheeba Moyo has been placed into this role. Apologies from the editor!

New Praise & Prayer Points

Clayton and Anna Hinds

Clayton and Anna are currently looking at renewing their work permits to be able to stay on and develop the Camp Program vision. Our vision for Camp includes having up to six camps per year and permanent facilities in Livingstone.

Please Pray

  • That the Department of Immigration will renew Clayton and Anna’s work permits and that they may be free to implement and work towards the Camp Program vision.
  • As Clayton and Anna begin to make arrangements for their travel back to Australia on the 18th of September. Their time in Australia will be spent promoting the vision of the Camp Program while also resting and refreshing for the challenges ahead.

Long-Term Planning

Leaders and staff at Eagles Wings are currently contributing to long-term planning that will take all of our programs through to 2015. Much prayer and wisdom is needed to place onto paper our known goals, which if met will have a tremendous influence on hundreds of children. If prepared well, these goals will provide us with a focused approach to our ministry. These are exciting times for all, as we look at where God is leading us.

Please Pray

  • That we may really seek God’s best, His will and His vision for Eagles Wings.

Stage 3
Stage 3 comprises three classrooms for grades seven to nine. One of these classrooms will be a computer room for students. The middle room protruding out past the veranda will be a multi-purpose room that includes conference and assembly usage. We look forward to providing these further facilities for the benefit of vulnerable children from our surrounding communities.

Zambian President dies after stroke

Please be in prayer for Zambia after President Levy Mwanawasa passed away on the 12th of August from a massive stroke he suffered almost three months ago. President Mwanawasa stabilized the economy after a disastrous period during the 1990’s and, even though the majority of Zambians still live in abject poverty, the hope was that this economic development would begin
to reach the poor, where it is most needed. Now more than ever, Zambia needs a leader that will continue to build on this economic platform while looking to the interests of the people. His passing may have widespread ramifications if there is not a democratic succession of power, but could also be a catalyst for positive change. Pray that God’s grace will cover this country of Zambia.

Praise Points

End of School Break Both Kanyala and Monkey Fountain Campuses have closed for a two week break. Daniel is happy with the continued progress of the students with the end of term assessments indicating major breakthroughs in literacy, especially for the grades four and five students.

Praise God

  • For the safety, success and strength He granted throughout this term.
