Praise & Prayer July 08 Print E-mail

"For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.” Romans 10:2

Paul acknowledged that his fellow Jews had a zeal for God. However, it was not based on truth. So often we also are guilty of having a desire to seek after God and to do what we believe He is calling us to do, however it can be based on some weak foundational teaching. Our expectations of God and the direction He takes us has left many a Christian disappointed and discouraged after years of service, questioning their faith because God, in their view, has let them down. Even the disciples on the way to Emmaus thought he would have redeemed Israel. What are we expecting God to do for us that we feel let down about? May we have a true understanding of the God we follow and what He expects of us by studying His word and listening less to the misguided
views of others.

FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES

Documentary Launch

UBUNTU: The Street Child Story was shown to over 40 pastors at the Holiday Inn in Lusaka on the 19th of July. Guest speakers on the night were the representative of UNICEF (Zambia) and the Deputy Minister of Community Development and Social Services. It was a night where we believe many were touched by what they saw in the documentary and we look forward to what God will do in their hearts.

Praise God

  • That the night went well and was well attended.

Please Pray

  • That the documentary will inspire, convict and encourage those pastors who attended the launch to help orphans and vulnerable children in their communities.

Camp 2008

Two children on Camp 2008
Two children on Camp 2008. Praise God, 18 children gave their lives to Jesus during this Camp

Eagles Wings’ Camp 2008 once again proved to be an amazing adventure for both the children and the leaders. It was remarkable once again to see how God transformed the children. 18 Children gave their lives to Christ!

Please Pray

  • For the children. Pray that they would continue to grow in their knowledge of God and His Word as they return to their homes and communities.
  • For the leaders, as they return home. Pray that they too would continue to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s teaching in their hearts.

Praise God

  • For such an outcome in the children’s hearts!
  • For the safety and successful running of Camp

Land Purchase for Stage 3 and 4

Sarah and Beauty
Sarah (our Adult Education Program Coordinator) and Beauty: Praise God that both mother and baby are healthy!
We believe that we are very close to finalizing the land for Stages 3 and 4 of our Christian Community School. The documentation to obtain land under an incorporated body has come from the Lands Department in Lusaka and has been passed onto the Lands Department in Ndola. We are now just waiting for an offer letter.

Please Pray

  • For the final processes. Pray that it will be smooth and we will, in the very near future, obtain this land!

NEW PRAISE & PRAYER POINTS

New Teacher Position

Our Education Program has advertised for a new teaching position. This has opened due to Sheba Moyo being appointed as Head of Primary.

Please Pray

  • For Daniel, as he conducts interviews for this new position. Pray that God’s hand will be over this appointment.

Teaching Staff

Please pray for all the teaching staff at Eagles Wings. Pray that the Lord strengthens them for the rest of this term. As the process of government inspection has started, the teaching staff are working very hard to meet the standards set out by the Ministry of Education before the school can be fully accredited as a private school.

Two Appointments – Acts Initiative

Christian Revival Church (CRC), our partner church in Lesotho through the Acts Initiative, has appointed a social worker within their ministry. This is exciting news for us all and we look forward to seeing the ministry develop. In Ndola, we have finalized the part time appointment of Pastor Philip Kazhingu in view of full time work within six months. Over the coming months, his major areas will be preparation of social justice and social issue preaching material, starting a churchbased ministry within his own church, Spring of Life, and some professional development in report writing.

Praise God

  • For His hand over these appointments.

Please Pray

  • That we may continue to seek His guidance over the Acts Initiative as it develops into a program that transforms lives and honors Him.

Break the Cycle

Eagles Wings has partnered with Be a Hero Australia and Micah Challenge to promote the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) that the United
Nations have established to halve world poverty by 2015. To promote the MDGs, which will help to bring freedom and justice to millions of children around the world, we are organizing a cycling event aptly named Break the Cycle. The event will start in Brisbane and end in Canberra in time for the start of Anti Poverty week. Break the Cycle will be 1481 km of cycling all in the name of children in poverty. There is an opportunity for keen cyclists to take part but we only have a limited number of 20 cyclists this year. If you are interested, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for a participation form. Please pray for this event as it unfolds. It is a new event and therefore will have some unforeseen issues. Organizers will need a lot of prayer for wisdom and strength to not only make this a success for the sake of the children, but also to make the distance on a bike!

Join our Building Team 2009

We are beginning the process of mobilizing the Building Team for Stage 3 and 4 of the Monkey Fountain Campus for April/May 2009. If you would like to be part of this team please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to register your
interest or for further information.

Praise Points

Bore HoleEagles Wings now has a bore hole for the Monkey Fountain Campus. We will eventually be able to link it with a pump and then also build a stand for a water tank. This will then bring water to the school throughout the whole year which is very important for hygiene purposes in the school toilets!

Sick Girl in Family Program

A lot of prayer and a new course of treatment have seen a marked improvement in this girl’s health. She is now attending school again and is able to play with other children.

Head of Primary

The Head of Primary at Eagles Wings Christian Community School has been appointed! Considering her hard work and faithful input into Eagles Wings, Maureen, the first teacher when Eagles Wings was still a small community school in the church, has been appointed to fill the Head of Primary position.

Praise God

  • For Maureen’s faithful service and love for the children

Please Pray

  • For wisdom for Maureen as she starts this new role.
