"A thousand shall flee at the threat of one; at the threat of five you shall flee, till you are left like a flagstaff on the top of a mountain, like a signal on a hill. Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him." Isaiah 30:17-18

The nature of God is never to force Himself on us or demand that we love Him. He will, however, patiently wait while we try all that the world has to offer. He may take us through some tough times as a result and we may be found ‘up a flag pole’ with nowhere else to go. Why are we so slow to understand how much He loves us and is prepared shower his grace on us? It seems inconceivable that the God of all creation should be waiting for us so He can do something good in our lives!

There is one redeeming thought: the more He shows mercy to us, the more He is exalted and the more He shows His rightful claim to the position He holds both in heaven and on earth as the perfect judge.

Rather than being a slow learner, there is a special blessing promised to those who are prepared to wait for Him. May we be found one of those that seek to wait for Him, one of those who are convinced that there is no other way or person that loves us more and wants to make us trophies of His grace.

FROM PREVIOUS UPDATES

Young Boy Found

The three year old boy who was found abandoned is doing well at Eagles Wings. He is happy and two of the older children have taken a keen interest in looking after him. He has settled in very well, but we still have not been able to contact his family, which suggests he may have been abandoned intentionally. The radio ads we did resulted in two families looking for lost children, but just not his family.

Please Pray

  • That God will lead us to his family, wherever they may be.

Daniel in Australia

Daniel writes:
It has been awesome spending time observing and teaching classes at Sutherland Shire Christian School. I have also appreciated a decent amount of time spent looking at school administration and other behind the scenes work. I am deeply moved by the overwhelming response of the staff and students: everyone just seemed so supportive, from my host families to a child in kindergarten. I productively finished my professional development at Sutherland, taking in a lot.

I am now on the Gold Coast. Already I am humbled by the welcome I got at Hillcrest Christian College. It is clearly evident that they had been waiting and they are just as willing to give as much support as they possibly can.

Praise God

  • For the overwhelming response from Sutherland Shire Christian School, my first school in Australia. Please Pray
  • For me, that I do not seek to return to Zambia and reproduce what I have seen, but that I may discover ways in which we can do things better.
  • That the relationship that has been
formed between schools will grow even
    stronger.
  • For the upcoming viewings in Southern Africa. We are looking at Lesotho in April and then Zambia in July. Pray that leaders can be challenged to fight the good fight for street children.

Documentary

Ubuntu: The Street Child Story launch in Sydney was a great night. With a last minute rush on tickets, Matthew had to change the cinema to cope with the increased numbers. 370 came to view the documentary and we pray that they left understanding a little more regarding the issues involved around street children, which are complex to say the least. We now turn our attention to Southern Africa and pray that doors will open and leaders will turn up to view the film.

Please Pray

  • Praise God For all who turned up in Brisbane and Sydney to view the film.

Praise Points

Clayton writes:
Anna and I set off on what should have been a quick ten hour drive to Livingstone to find a new site for Camp 2008. However heavy rains had left crater sized potholes in the road. After 14 hours of driving, we arrived into Livingstone. With only one contact and a time limitation of two days to find a site we set off ready to cold call church after church.

God had other plans!

Within 30 minutes of setting out from the backpackers we found a site! We thought it was a bit of a wild goose chase as we set out with our one contact, but God lead us to an AOG church on the outskirts of Livingstone. The church building is not quite finished yet, but they do have ten showers and ten toilets, lockable rooms for supplies and luggage and a large hall for devotions and evening concerts for the children.

It seems our mad scramble was nothing more than a waste of time and energy. God has everything in control.
