"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake." Psalm 23:1-3
It is interesting that we humans can receive amazing blessing in this life
and yet our souls can be in distress, needing to be restored. In Psalm 23
the writer is cared for by the greatest shepherd of all. He knows he has
everything he wants and he is in a place of peace seated by the still, calm
waters. Yet a work still needs to be done with his soul. David, the writer
of this Psalm, certainly is a good example of someone who needed to be
restored. Psalm 51:12 speaks of a pleading for the restoring of that joy of
his salvation.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us…For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" Romans 5:8 & 10
The Word of God is full of understated truths that have enormous consequences
to mankind. Romans 5:8 is one of these. In a few short words
the whole message of God’s intervention in time and humanity is spelt out.
When the verse says ‘Christ died for us’ while we were sinners, we can understand
something of what a sinner is. We have some idea of the power
of sin, how bad sin can be, the results of sin and generally what it feels like
to be a sinner. As the Bible says in Psalm 51:5, ‘Behold, I was brought forth
in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me’.

"Who then is he that can stand before me? Who has given to me that I
should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine." Job 41:10b-11
It is typical of many to believe we have rights and significance
in the world we live in. We think we are very
intelligent, can achieve wonderful things, create a variety
of great inventions and even control and intervene in the
course of nature and life itself as though we designed it.
The fact is however all our wisdom is simply foolishness
compared to God (1 Corinthians 1:25) and any good we
do is like filthy rags to Him (Isaiah 64:6). Our very breath
is maintained by the goodness of God and our life only
continues until God decides our time is over.

"But even if we or an angel from heaven should Prayer Focus preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!" Galatians 1:8
We humans love to follow the fashions that sweep the country on a regular basis and feel somewhat out of favour when we fall behind. Some of us humans get bored with the same old thing and we regularly change our environment just to feel happy. However, there are some things that are the same from generation to generation and are not changeable until God decides.
